Report: Marvin Lewis’ job is safe with Cincinnati Bengals

Marvin Lewis to be fired? If the Bengals don't succeed in 2017, that's a possibility.

To nobody’s surprise, Cincinnati Bengals owner Mike Brown isn’t interested in making a change at head coach. Marvin Lewis is expected to keep his position.

While this isn’t surprising, it is likely troubling if you’re a Bengals fan.

The Bengals suffered a complete mental breakdown in Saturday’s playoff game against the Pittsburgh Steelers, losing because of two personal foul penalties with 22 seconds left on the clock (watch here). Pittsburgh walked out of Paul Brown Stadium with a 18-16 win, giving Lewis a playoff record of 0-7.

The Bengals have been consistently one of the league’s top teams during the regular season the past half-decade. However, thanks to plenty of discipline problems and terrible quarterback play, Lewis is the worst playoff head coach in modern history.

Lewis deserves to be fired. He should be fired. But the Bengals appear to be content with mediocrity, or the team’s brass is still under the impression that Lewis has just been dealt seven really bad hands.
