For any fans hoping their Christmas present this year would be Manny Machado signing with their favorite team, they’ll reportedly have to wait until the new year before that present arrives.
According to Jon Heyman of Fancred, Machado has told the Chicago White Sox, Philadelphia Phillies and New York Yankees that his decision of who to sign with will come after the new year.

Heyman’s report doesn’t specify when Machado will make his decision in 2019. So even when the calendar turns to January, all three fan bases will still deal with some uncertainty as they wait to find out where the star shortstop will land.
At the very least, this will now allow sports fans and front offices to relax a little more during the holiday season.
