Embroiled in an alleged prostitution scandal, the University of Louisville has reportedly imposed a ban on postseason basketball games for the 18-4 Cardinals.

Rick Pitino and his coaching staff told players they only had nine games left, per Jeff Greer of the Courier-Journal:

“The school informed the team’s players in a meeting early Friday afternoon, a source close to the program said, and will hold a press conference at 1:30 p.m. to announce the decision,” wrote Greer.

The NCAA is still investigating claims made by Louisville stripper and escort Katina Powell. She said in her book “Breaking Cardinal Rules: Basketball and the Escort Queen” that she was hired multiple times by former University of Louisville basketball staffer Andre McGee for the purpose of hiring strippers for recruiting purposes.

Pitino recently made headlines when he said he was “pissed off” about the entire thing. He went on a lengthy rant in January, pointing out what he saw as holes in her claims and defended his program.

If the Cardinals were able to play in the postseason, it’s not crazy to think they’d be one of the teams to beat in the NCAA Championship.
