Report: Lonzo Ball dealing with mild groin injury, won’t play Monday

Summer League fans hoping to see Los Angeles Lakers rookie Lonzo Ball on Monday will be disappointed. Ball has been dealing with a minor groin issue and will be held out of Monday’s game against the Sacramento Kings.

ESPN’s Ramona Shelburne confirmed that Ball’s injury isn’t serious. Tania Ganguli of the Los Angeles Times noted that Ball’s injury occurred in practice.

While it’s a smart move for the Lakers to rest Ball, it will deprive fans of the opportunity to see him go one-on-one against Kings guard De’Aaron Fox — a rematch from the NCAA Tournament.

In a sense deleted tweet, Fox expressed apparent disappointment.

We can only help that both men are healthy the next time the two teams play. It’s a budding rivalry that may be worth the price of admission.
