Los Angeles Lakers star LeBron James said he is committed to making his final NBA season a family affair, expressing a desire to play with his son Bronny James.

“My last year will be played with my son,” James said, according to The Athletic. “Wherever Bronny is at, that’s where I’ll be. I would do whatever it takes to play with my son for one year. It’s not about the money at that point.”

Bronny James is a 17-year-old junior at Sierra Canyon High School in the Los Angeles area. It means the 6-foot-2 guard will not be NBA eligible until the 2024-25 season.

LeBron James, 37, is under contract with the Lakers through the 2022-23 season, leading to speculation that he would just sign a one-year deal once his current contract expires and then be open to signing with whatever team he desires in 2024-25.

Sunday will be the 18th All-Star Game for LeBron James, tying him with late Lakers star Kobe Bryant for second most all time. Former Laker Kareem Abdul-Jabbar had 19 All-Star Game appearances.

LeBron James has averaged 29.1 points in 41 games this season, his highest scoring average since scoring 30.0 points and leading the league in 2007-08 as a member of the Cleveland Cavaliers. He is also averaging 7.9 rebounds and 6.5 assists per game.
