Report: Lane Kiffin ‘nearing deal’ to become next head coach at Ole Mis

Lane Kiffin

Current FAU coach Lane Kiffin is reportedly nearing a deal with the University of Mississippi to become the next Ole Miss head football coach.

This news comes by way of Richard Cross, an Ole Miss radio broadcaster for SEC Network, who says the school has already met with Kiffin and could hire him soon.

Ole Miss fired Matt Luke earlier this week after the Rebels went 4-8 (including 2-6 in the SEC) on the season to finish in sixth place in the SEC West.

Kiffin has been mentioned among others for another high-profile SEC job at Arkansas. However, this isn’t the first time someone has connected the former USC head coach to the Ole Miss job, either.

During the 2019 season, Kiffin’s Owls started out slow with an 0-2 start against Ohio State and UCF. Since then, however, they’ve lost just once and will take on UAB in the Conference USA Championship Game.
