Report: Lakers Offer Byron Scott Head Coaching Job

In what cannot be considered too much of a surprise, the Los Angeles Lakers have reportedly offered Byron Scott their head coaching job. He has been the favorite to land in Southern California since Derek Fisher took the New York Knicks job.

The two sides are reportedly in contract discussions right now.

Scott, who won three championships as a player with the Lakers, has previous head coaching experience with the New Jersey Nets, New Orleans Hornets and Cleveland Cavaliers. His most successful season came back in 2001-2002 when he led the Nets to a 52-30 record and trip to the Eastern Conference Finals. It was the first of two consecutive trips to the conference finals for Scott.

His most recent coaching stint came with the Cavaliers, when he was fired following a 24-58 record in 2012-2013.
