Marcus Morris trade

It’s been said that the New York Knicks and their brass exists in an alternate reality. Chasing after big names such as Kevin Durant and Kyrie Irving this past summer brought that to the forefront once again.

With the NBA trade deadline quickly approaching, it seems that New York is back at it. According to this report, the Knicks are looking for star power in return for veteran forward Marcus Morris.

“The source said a minor Morris deal that would net a late first-round pick and force them to take on a non-expiring contract is not an attractive option at this juncture,” Marc Berman of the NY Post reported. “The Knicks prefer not to diminish their 2020 or 2021 cap space in any deal.”

Already linked to Detroit Pistons All-Star center Andre Drummond, it’s not a surprise that the Knicks are going big-game hunting. At issue here is the organization’s less than firm grasp on reality.

New York does not want to give up a first-round pick for star power. Instead, it seems to think that an injured 30-year-old forward earning $15 million in a contract year that has never averaged more than 14.1 points in a season prior to this year can get it the star power.

Welcome to New York Knicks basketball at its finest.
