After just one season with the team, the Sacramento Kings are reportedly releasing veteran guard Arron Afflalo.
The move comes a day after Sacramento added three first-round picks to its roster, including fellow wing Justin Jackson from North Carolina.
Considering Sacramento is going with a full-scale rebuild, this move makes perfect sense. Afflalo wasn’t much of a fit in his only season in California’s capital city. He averaged 8.4 points in less than 26 minutes of action.
Afflalo, 31, signed a two-year, $25 million deal with Sacramento last summer. He’s still a potentially valuable contributor for a contending team, especially considering the UCLA product’s defensive ability.
Now that he’s set to become a free agent, we would not be shocked if teams like the Cleveland Cavaliers, Golden State Warriors and San Antonio Spurs showed interest.
