Report: K-State’s leading scorer Dean Wade out Sunday against UMBC

The UMBC Retrievers have already made NCAA Tournament history, becoming the first No. 16 seed to defeat a 1 in the men’s tournament. Hours before tip off of the Round of 32 game against No. 9 Kansas State, UMBC’s road to another win got a little clearer.

Dean Wade — the Wildcats’ leading scorer who has been nursing a foot injury suffered in the Big XII Tournament — will miss Sunday’s game.

The good news for Kansas State is that it has won without Wade before. He also did not play in the Wildcats’ Round of 64 victory Creighton.

In K-State’s win over the Bluejays, the Wildcats were led in scoring by Bobby Brown, who had 18. Mike McGuirl also came off the bench to score 17, significantly topping his season average of 3.3.
