The New York Jets lost out on the Kirk Cousins sweepstakes but have honed in on Teddy Bridgewater instead, according to Ian Rapoport of NFL Media. Rapoport notes that Bridgewater has other options as well, but that he’s New York’s first choice right now.

Interestingly, former NFL player Bryant McFadden had previously reported the Jets were working on finalizing a deal with Bridgewater.

However, Josina Anderson reported Tuesday afternoon that Bridgewater is keeping his options open at this time.

Of course, we all know the story by now of how Bridgewater’s knee practically fell apart on the spot during a practice two summers ago, and that trainers likely saved his life on the field of play. He sat out the entire 2016 season recovering from that injury and saw the field only briefly last season.
However, all reports indicate Bridgewater’s health is up to par now. And if he’s healthy, then Bridgewater could potentially be a great option for the Jets. For his career, the young passer has completed 64.7 percent of his passes for 6,150 yards with 28 touchdowns and 20 interceptions.
