Report: Jadeveon Clowney has met with Dolphins head coach

Jadeveon Clowney

A report earlier on Tuesday noted that Houston Texans Pro Bowler Jadeveon Clowney believes he’s headed to the Miami Dolphins in a trade.

While Clowney might not be happy with that scenario, he did just meet with first-year Dolphins head coach Brian Flores and other members of the Dolphins’ brass.

We are not 100 percent sure what to make of this. But it could have been Miami’s way of gauging where Clowney is in his thought process.

The former No. 1 overall pick is slated to become a free agent after the 2019 season. Having been franchised by the Texans, Clowney is not eligible for an extension. Any move to acquire him would be risky.

Meanwhile, another report suggests that Clowney prefers the Philadelphia Eagles and Seattle Seahawks over Miami as a potential landing spot. That could complicate things.

After a slow start to his career, Clowney has recorded 59 quarterback hits and 24.5 sacks over the past three seasons, earning a Pro Bowl appearance each year.

He’d likely net Houston a first-round pick and change in a trade.
