Report: Isaiah Wynn tears Achilles, out for season

New England Patriots 2017 NFL Mock Draft. Vito Babe Parilli

The New England Patriots used their 2018 first-round pick on Isaiah Wynn hoping he’d bolster the offensive line, but he won’t be suiting up this season.

According to ESPN’s Adam Schefter, Wynn has a torn Achilles and will be sidelined for the entire year.

The injury occurred Thursday against the Philadelphia Eagles during New England’s second preseason game.

Although the injury didn’t initially seem serious because Wynn never fell to the ground, the following reaction suggested a major issue. That, unfortunately, is the case for the Georgia product, who was playing right tackle.

This offseason, the Patriots lost longtime blindside protector Nate Solder in free agency. The likely starters at the tackle spots are Trent Brown and Marcus Cannon — though if he’s not healthy it’ll be LaDarius Waddle.
