Report: ‘Interest on both sides’ between Jon Gruden, Buccaneers

Jon Gruden

Could Jon Gruden make his return to coaching with the same team he last coached? According to one report, the Tampa Bay Buccaneers and Gruden have some mutual interest in a potential reunion.

From Scott Reynolds of Pewter Report: “I just have my gut instinct and some information from other league sources that there is, in fact, interest on both sides for a reunion, especially from Gruden. Behind the scenes, this is the job he wants, although out of respect for Koetter he won’t publicly acknowledge it.”

We know for a fact that the Bucs are lost at sea with head coach Dirk Koetter manning the helm right now. Even he’s admitted that he’s probably lost the confidence of some of his players.

With a record of 3-6 and star players melting down on the sidelines, Tampa Bay needs new direction, for sure.

And if the team still feels Jameis Winston is worth investing in going forward, then what better man to help lead him to success than Gruden? He’s been able to work wonders with mediocre quarterbacks in the past and could potentially mold Winston into the star he was drafted to be.

Of course, there are also some strong rumors that the University of Tennessee is looking into Gruden as its next head coach, too. If he does land a head coaching gig this winter, at least we know the one-time Super Bowl champ will command a high salary.
