According to John McClain of the Houston Chronicle, the Houston Texans have hired former two-time All-Pro wide receiver Andre Johnson to serve as a special adviser.
Per the report, Johnson will work directly with head coach Bill O’Brien and will have plenty of duties in this newly created position. Johnson is the lone member of the Texans’ Ring of Honor after spending 12 successful years playing for Houston.
He tallied 1,640 receptions for 13,597 yards and 64 touchdowns. Johnson’s deep knowledge of the game and leadership skills surely came into consideration by the Texans when they created the position.
The goal for the Texans in 2019 would be to pick up where they left off, which was with a first-place finish in the AFC South and an 11-5 record.
Johnson joining the team should only help the Texans continue trending up in 2019.
