Report: Houston Rockets Guard Patrick Beverley Out for the Season

Patrick Beverly

Houston Rockets guard Patrick Beverley will miss the rest of the season and the playoffs after opting for surgery to repair ligament damage in his left wrist.

Beverley suffered the injury on March 23rd against the Pacers. He averaged 10.1 points, 4.2 rebounds and 3.4 assists as the team’s starting point guard. With Beverley out, the Rockets will continue to lean on Jason Terry, Pablo Prigioni and rookie Nick Johnson to share ball-handling responsibilities with James Harden.

Despite Beverley’s limited offensive output, it’s likely the Rockets will miss his energy and toughness in the playoffs. Beverley’s aggressive defense makes him a thorn in his opponent’s side, and often sets the tone for the team’s defensive possession.

Houston has fared well in the face of several injuries this season, most notably to center Dwight Howard and forward Terrence Jones, putting themselves in position for the second seed in the Western Conference.
