One of the most interesting names on the NBA trade block ahead of Thursday’s deadline, former Finals MVP Andre Iguodala could be had for the right price.
Iggy has sat out the entire 2019-20 season after being acquired by the Memphis Grizzlies this past summer. He’s threatening to sit out the remainder of the year if Memphis does not trade him to a preferred destination.
According to NBA insider Shams Charania, Memphis is having discussions with the Miami Heat about sending the veteran wing to South Beach.
Charania notes that it’s not yet known whether Iguodala would accept such a trade, as he’d like to be closer to his Northern California home.
It’s in this that the Lakers have come up repeatedly as a potential landing spot. But at 34-15 on the season, the surprising Heat would seem to be a viable on-court option for Iggy.
The 36-year-old forward averaged 5.7 points, 3.7 rebounds and 3.2 assists per game with the Golden State Warriors last season. He remains one of the best perimeter defenders in the game. The expectation is that he will be dealt within the next 48-plus hours.
