Report: Hawks make draft-day trade for Pelicans’ No. 4 pick

Atlanta Hawks

The Atlanta Hawks had reportedly been trying to move up into the top of the 2019 NBA Draft, and now it appears they are going to make it happen.

According to Adrian Wojnarowski of ESPN, the Hawks have made a deal with the New Orleans Pelicans for the No. 4 overall pick.

They are giving up three draft picks (No. 8, No. 17, and No. 35 overall) and will receive the No. 57 pick, a future second-round pick, and Solomon Hill. Additionally, the Hawks are sending a Cleveland “heavily protected first-round pick in 2020” to New Orleans in the deal, per Wojnarowski.

Atlanta is looking to team up another young superstar with last year’s first-round pick, Trae Young. Among the players they could land at No. 4 here this year are R.J. Barrett out of Duke and former Virginia product, De’Andre Hunter.

For the Pelicans, this trade allows them to build depth around assumed No. 1 overall pick, Zion Williamson.
