Now that Tennessee’s failed 2017 football season is officially in the books, the coaching search is kicking into high gear with a new name as the focus — Greg Schiano.
Sources: As the last 24 hours have evolved, Greg Schiano has emerged as the focus of Tennessee’s search. Vols have also been engaged with Mullen, who has been trying to wait out Florida.

Schiano has been the defensive coordinator at Ohio State the past two seasons. Before that he coached at the NFL level with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers after spending a decade at the helm of Rutgers’ program (2001-2011).
While leading the Scarlet Knights, Schiano turned the program around in a big way. He went 12-34 his first four seasons at Rutgers before rattling off winning seasons in six of his last seven campaigns, including an 11-win season in 2006.
Dan Mullen, the other man mentioned by Wolken, seems to either be content to stay at Mississippi State or is a dark horse for the job at Florida, as was mentioned in the report.
I guess this also means Jon Gruden is probably out of the running, boys and girls.
