Report: Glen ‘Big Baby’ Davis open to playing in Europe if no NBA contract materializes

Glen Davis

Glen “Big Baby” Davis is currently without an NBA team, and reportedly he’s not ruling out a season in Europe if he doesn’t land a desirable contract from one of the teams in the Association.

Davis could also be interested in playing in China, according to Sportando.com:

“Glen Davis is open to playing overseas if he doesn’t sign a contract in the NBA, a source told Sportando. Big Baby is in talks to re-sign with the Clippers but if they won’t reach a deal, the center may join the Chinese League or one of the European top divisions…”

Once a valuable player who could contribute both energy and production off the bench, Davis’ career has taken a turn towards irrelevance the past couple of seasons with the Los Angeles Clippers. Playing just 12.2 minutes per game, Davis contributed just four points, 2.3 rebounds and half an assist per contest last year.

Considering Davis made just $1.2 million last year with Los Angeles, and considering he is still without a contract at this time, signing with a lesser league could very well be the best move he could make right now.

No doubt Davis would be able to play on a more regular basis in China or Europe, meaning if there is a spark left to show off, NBA teams will have a better chance to recognize it. In turn, this could potentially lead to another contract with an NBA team after the season, which is certainly a desirable outcome.
