The New York Giants have locked up former Pro Bowl defensive end Jason Pierre-Paul on a massive four-year contract worth $62 million. NFL Media’s Ian Rapoport indicates that the deal itself is worth a whopping $40 million in guaranteed cash.

This comes less than a month after Pierre-Paul signed the franchise tag tender that New York placed on him. It’s the long-term security that the former first-round pick has been seeking for some time now.
In his first full season since returning from a serious hand injury he suffered in a fireworks accident back in 2015, Pierre-Paul recorded 53 tackles, seven sacks and three forced fumbles for the Giants last season.
JPP’s average salary of $15.5 million ranks him fourth among all defensive ends in the NFL. In addition to this, the $40 million he received in guaranteed cash ranks in the top-five among NFL defensive ends. Not too shabby of a payday here.
