New York Giants legend Eli Manning is likely to retire at the end of the 2019 season following a 16-season career that included two Super Bowl wins.

Ralph Vacchiano of SNY reported Friday that Manning “most likely” will retire following the 2019 campaign.

In no way would Manning retiring be a surprise. He’s 38 years old and has clearly regressed in recent seasons, which of course was a big reason why the Giants selecting Daniel Jones out of Duke with the sixth overall pick this past April.

If this really does mark the end of the road for Manning, then it’s a good bet he’ll one day end up with a bust in Canton. Despite posting what most would call mediocre stats many seasons, Manning played his best when the chips were pushed to the middle and has two Super Bowl MVP trophies to back that up.

Assuming Manning never throws another pass as a pro, he’ll finish with 57,023 yards, 366 touchdowns and 244 interceptions. Remarkably, the 38-year-old has never once missed a game due to injury in his career, and his longevity was a big reason Manning played his entire career with one franchise.
