Report: Free agent DT Dontari Poe to visit Raiders

Two-time Pro Bowl defensive tackle Dontari Poe is still unsigned in free agency and is now on his way to visit the Oakland Raiders, according to the Palm Beach Post.

Poe, who has visited with the Indianapolis Colts, Jacksonville Jaguars, Atlanta Falcons and Miami Dolphins, is certainly not rushing into anything right now.

There have been reports that he’s looking for a one-year deal this offseason so he can jump back into the free agency pool in 2018. Perhaps his history of not playing hard on every snap has given teams pause about laying out too much green during contract negotiations.

Whatever the case, Poe has yet to find the right fit — a development that could be great news for the Raiders.

In his five-year career since being selected in the first round by the Kansas City Chiefs in 2012, Poe has started 76 games.

His career really took off in his second season, and he tallied 98 total tackles and 10.5 sacks between 2013-14. Over the course of his five years in the league, Poe has accumulated 202 total tackles and 13 sacks. He’s a dominant player inside at times and could potentially help the Raiders become much more formidable on the defensive side of the ball.
