Report: Estimated 700K fans attended Eagles’ Super Bowl parade

According to the latest estimates, the Philadelphia Eagles’ Super Bowl victory parade drew upwards of 700,000 fans on Thursday.

“An estimated total of close to 700,000 Eagles faithful attended Thursday’s parade, according to a team of crowd-safety experts at Manchester Metropolitan University in England,” wrote Tom Avril of the Philadelphia Inquirer.

This total is nowhere close to the pre-parade projections that were circulated. Some guessed that up to two million people would show up for the celebration, per the report. However, given the space that the city had to work with, there just wasn’t enough real estate to support that large of a crowd.

Even though the number of people attending fell well short of the initial guesses, the Eagles’ Super Bowl parade was right up there with “the 2015 papal visit and the 2008 Phillies parade among the largest throngs in city history,” per the report.

Things were so crazy that one Eagles player lost his phone. Thankfully for him, fans used some entertaining means of helping him get it back.
