Report: Eagles trade OL Allen Barbre to the Broncos

The Philadelphia Eagles have traded Allen Barbre

Mere hours after it was reported that the Philadelphia Eagles were going to release veteran offensive lineman Allen Barbre, the Denver Broncos swooped in and acquired the guard in a trade. In return, it’s being reported that Philadelphia will receive a conditional 2019 seventh-round pick.

Barbre, 33, started all 28 games in which he suited up for the Eagles over the past two seasons. He was made expendable by the presence of 2016 third-round pick Isaac Seumalo on the Eagles’ roster.

From a Broncos perspective, this trade makes a ton of sense. The team has a glaring hole at guard with Max Garcia slated to start along the right side. Barbre’s ability to play the tackle position is also an important factor in this trade.

Denver will ultimately need all the help it can get up front with a questionable backfield situation. Trevor Siemian and Paxton Lynch enter camp vying for the starting quarterback job. Meanwhile, injury-prone veterans C.J. Anderson and Jamaal Charles are looking for touches at running back.
