The Carolina Panthers reportedly requested permission to interview Philadelphia Eagles executive Andrew Berry for their vacant executive vice president position.

Mary Kay Cabot of Cleveland.com was first to report this development.

Interestingly, the Eagles are reportedly denying the Panthers permission to interview Berry, though he may still leave the organization as he’s still in play to become the next general manager of the Cleveland Browns.

As noted by Ian Rapoport, the Eagles couldn’t deny Berry that opportunity, because it would mean an advancement for him.

This type of maneuvering isn’t uncommon in the NFL. Berry holds the same position in Philadelphia that he was being asked to interview for in Carolina. Previously, he was the Browns’ vice president of player personnel from 2016-18.
