Report: Dodgers have inquired about All-Star 1B Jose Abreu

Jose Abreu continues to do his thing for the White Sox.

Despite being linked to multiple star players this winter, the defending NL champion Los Angeles Dodgers have yet to reel in that big fish.

It could come in the form of signing Bryce Harper or adding another front-line starting pitcher to go with Clayton Kershaw.

But for now, it appears that Los Angeles has its sights set on Chicago White Sox All-Star first baseman Joe Abreu.

This wouldn’t be an acquisition at the level of the above-mentioned Harper. But it would go a long way in Los Angeles solidifying its offense.

Abreu, 31, hit .265 with 22 homers and 78 RBI last season. It was by far the worst performance of his five-year career. Over the course of his first four seasons, the Cuban averaged a .301 mark with 31 homers and 102 RBI.

The interesting dynamic here is that Los Angeles has its first baseman of the future in that of former NL Rookie of the Year Cody Bellinger. How would that situation play out? We might find out soon enough.
