It’s not like the Los Angeles Dodgers need more financial backing as a team that could very well be on the verge of yet another World Series appearance.
Despite this, the Dodgers have added two big-time figures to their ownership group. That includes real estate developer Robert Plummer and investor Alan Smolinisky.
A lifelong Dodgers fan, Plummer made news years ago by legitimately building an entire neighborhood in St. Louis honoring the Dodgers.
The entrance to said neighborhood reads “Ebbets Field,” an homage to the Dodgers old stadium in Brooklyn. Some of the street names include Dodgers greats such as Mike Piazza, Tommy Lasorda and Oral Hershiser.
His reasoning behind the project? “I love the Dodgers,” Plummer said back in 2013.
As it relates to Smolinisky, the 39-year-old USC grad is said to have a net worth in the hundreds of millions.
With a payroll of $200-plus million, Forbes estimates that the Dodgers are worth a cool $3.3 billion. That’s owner Mark Walter’s estimated net worth, too.
Yeah, everything seems to be going just fine in Dodgerland.
