After looking into his options following a stress fracture in his fifth metatarsal, Los Angeles Chargers star safety Derwin James will reportedly undergo surgery.

Mike Garafolo of NFL Network reports the surgery will be performed by Robert Anderson, and that James is expected to be out for around three months.

James injured his foot during joint practices with the New Orleans Saints on Thursday, and he was spotted wearing a walking boot on Friday.

As a rookie in 2018, James earned First-Team All-Pro honors and a trip to the Pro Bowl while racking up 105 tackles, 3.5 sacks and three interceptions. While he is out, look for veteran Adrian Phillips to slide into the starting lineup.
