Report: Darren McFadden ‘out a couple months’ after elbow surgery

Dallas Cowboys running back Darren McFadden, known for being injury-prone, broke his elbow at home and will miss significant time recovering.

Jon Machota of SportsDay broke the news Tuesday, noting McFadden required surgery and that he will miss “a couple months.”

At this point, there doesn’t appear to be any big rush for the Cowboys to go out and sign another top running back like, say, Arian Foster. After selecting Ohio State’s Ezekiel Elliott No. 4 overall and signing free agent Alfred Morris, Dallas will be just fine at the running back position unless one of them is injured as well.

That said, Jerry Jones and Co. must be squirming in their seats a bit. McFadden isn’t the only big-name player to get injured already this spring.

Third-round rookie defensive tackle Maliek Collins is also missing significant time as he recovers from a broken foot, linebacker Sean Lee (also injury-prone) had his knee scoped recently, defensive end DeMarcus Lawrence had offseason surgery to repair a herniated disc and will also miss the first four games due to a suspension and running back Lance Dunbar could start the season on the PUP list as he recovers from a knee injury.

Tony Romo and Dez Bryant are well on their way to being 100-percent healthy for the start of the season. But it’s already feeling like this team is in danger of falling victim to the same virulent injury bug that hit them in 2015.

Hopefully for Cowboys fans this will all blow over and the ‘Boys will have a shot at taking advantage of their loaded roster.
