The Chicago Cubs have reached a deal with veteran catcher Tucker Barnhart, MLB Network reported Thursday.
Barnhart, who turns 32 next month, batted .221 with one homer and 16 RBIs in 94 games with the Detroit Tigers last season.
The two-time Gold Glove winner played his previous eight seasons with the Cincinnati Reds and is a career .245 hitter with 52 homers and 277 RBIs in 838 games.
Barnhart likely would platoon with Yan Gomes behind the plate in Chicago with Willson Contreras having signed with the St. Louis Cardinals earlier this month.
