Report: Cowboys ‘will make a strong push’ for Earl Thomas

Matthew Emmons-USA TODAY Sports

With NFL free agency just days away, the Dallas Cowboys are reportedly setting their sights on All-Pro safety Earl Thomas.

Contradicting multiple previous reports indicating Thomas was out of Dallas’ price range, plugged-in Cowboys insider David Moore of Sports Day reports the team “will make a strong push for Earl Thomas.”

This follows nicely with a report from Ian Rapoport of NFL Media earlier on Sunday in which he said on NFL Network that the Cowboys are “by no means” out on Thomas.

It’s not a secret that Thomas wants to play for the Cowboys. He grew up in Texas, and his infamous trip to Dallas’ locker room after a game against the Cowboys only further illustrated his love for his hometown team.

Recently, Thomas moved his family into the Austin, Texas community. That may or may not have any bearing on what plays out once free agency takes off later this week. But it also shows just how important Texas is to the All-Pro free safety.
