The Dallas Cowboys have sent a new contract offer to Dak Prescott with the deadline to apply the franchise tag looming, per ESPN’s Todd Archer.
The new deal is reportedly around $34 million annually, per the report, which would place Prescott alongside Aaron Rodgers and Jared Goff. The Cowboys previously offered Prescott a deal with $105 million guaranteed.
If Prescott doesn’t agree to terms on the offer, the Cowboys will place the exclusive franchise tag on him.The current tag is projected to be at $33 million, which would likely represent the floor in annual salary for a long-term deal.
Prescott could reportedly seek a short-term extension with the Cowboys, targeting a three-year deal that would let him test free agency as a 29-year-old.
Seattle Seahawks quarterback Russell Wilson ($35 million) and Pittsburgh Steelers quarterback Ben Roethlisberger ($34 million) are currently the NFL’s two highest-paid players.
