Dallas Cowboys star linebacker Leighton Vander Esch will undergo minor neck surgery and is expected to be cleared afterward for the team’s offseason program.
ESPN’s Adam Schefter and Todd Archer shared this news, noting that Vander Esch “will undergo a minimally invasive procedure on his neck in the next few weeks.”
Last spring before he was drafted in the first round, Vander Esch had a bit of a medical red flag with his neck, but the Cowboys loved his traits and took a gamble.
When healthy, he’s been stellar for the ‘Boys. Unfortunately, Vander Esch has been out of commission since mid-November with this neck injury. Through 25 career games, he’s tallied 212 tackles, two interceptions, 0.5 sacks and a forced fumble.
