The long awaited Dez Bryant and Jerry Jones meeting took place Friday morning at The Star in Frisco. As the meeting was taking place, ESPN’s Adam Schefter dropped a major bomb.
According to the highly respected NFL insider, Dallas went into Friday’s meaning with the expectation of releasing Bryant.
Cowboys expected to release WR Dez Bryant today, barring an unexpected last-minute change of heart, per @toddarcher and me. But the plan going into meeting that is now underway was to part ways with Bryant.

Whether that means Bryant will indeed be released remains to be seen. What we do know is that Bryant is set to earn a $12.5 million base salary with a whopping $16.5 million cap hit next season. He must take a pay cut in order to remain with Dallas.
Bryant, 29, has regressed a great deal in recent years. Over the past two seasons, he’s averaged just 60 receptions for 817 yards. In Bryant’s previous three full seasons, he averaged 91 receptions for 1,312 yards and 14 touchdowns.
