Corey Coleman didn’t run his 40-yard dash at the NFL Scouting Combine. He chose to hold off and run it at Baylor’s pro day instead, and he didn’t fail to impress Wednesday. Multiple accounts came in via Twitter that NFL scouts clocked him at 4.37 seconds, and others came even lower.

Baylor had it timed at 4.41 seconds.

There were only two sub-4.0-second 40-yard dashes timed at this year’s meat market in Indianapolis.

This is phenomenal news for Coleman’s draft stock, which was already high heading into the pro day.

While it’s impossible to compare the electronic times at the Combine and the hand-held times we see at pro days, it’s important to note that speed is speed, and clearly he has it.

Coleman has the stats to back up his speed, as well.

Playing in a high-octane passing offense at Baylor, he caught 138 passes for 2,482 yards with 32 touchdowns the past two seasons. His 20 touchdowns in 2015 led the nation by three, even though he experienced a tumultuous second half when the Bears lost their quarterbacks to a rare rash of injuries.

While the defenses of the Big 12 cannot compare to those in the NFL, his college production, body control and raw speed make him one of the most enticing NFL draft picks this year outside the top 10.
