The Cleveland Cavaliers pulled off a blockbuster deal ahead of Thursday afternoon’s NBA trade deadline. But it’s not what we thought.

Now that the Cavs have added Andre Drummond to the mix, the existence of Tristan Thompson in Cleveland makes less sense.

It’s in this that ESPN’s Brian Windhorst is reporting that the impending free agent could be bought out here soon. If so, the Boston Celtics seem like a possible destination.

Boasting an impressive 35-15 record on the season, Boston was inactive ahead of the deadline. General manager Danny Ainge did not want to give up assets. Though, the team is in need of a defensive-minded big man.

Thompson, 28, would provide that. He’s averaging 11.9 points and 10.4 rebounds on 51% shooting from the field this season.
