As the New York Mets continue their search for the club’s next manager, former All-Star outfielder Carlos Beltran is reportedly emerging as a candidate to take over the helm.

According to MLB Network’s Jon Heyman, Beltran is a very serious candidate for the team’s vacant manager spot.

Beltran’s ties to the organization go beyond his seven seasons with the Mets. According to the report, he also has close relationships with several members of New York’s front office. Beltran would bring extensive experience as a player and is a known leader in the clubhouse.

He interviewed for the New York Yankees’ managerial job in 2017 before the team hired Aaron Boone. Beltran later joined the Yankees as an adviser to general manager Brian Cashman.
