Report: Cardinals will target Kirk Cousins, Andrew Norwell in free agency

The Arizona Cardinals are reportedly going to be swinging for the fences when the legal tampering window opens up ahead of free agency Monday. According to Mike Jurecki of arizonasports.com, the Cardinals are trying to land two of the biggest fishes in free agency, quarterback Kirk Cousins and offensive guard Andrew Norwell.

Now, it’s worth pointing out that Cousins is rumored to already be locked up by the Minnesota Vikings, who are reportedly going to pay him more than $27 million per season. Norwell is going to land a huge contract as well, with the floor likely being the $12 million per year the Cleveland Browns are paying Kevin Zeitler, who signed in free agency last year.

That’s nearly $40 million per year on a couple of players. Which, quite honestly is problematic considering the Cardinals currently have have less than $17.5 million to work with under the cap, according to Spotrac.

That said, moves can be made to clear up space, such as releasing Tyrann Mathieu, who said he’s already been asked to take a pay cut. Still, it seems like a monumental longshot that the Cardinals will land one of them, let alone both. Free agency is going to be crazy, though, and we cannot wait to see how it all unfolds.
