Just as the Arizona Cardinals are getting their veteran quarterback Carson Palmer back to full speed, the team suffered another blow after fourth-year receiver Michael Floyd dislocated three fingers on his left hand during Wednesday’s practice.
As a result, Floyd will reportedly miss “around a month” while he heals. This will could count him out for the the team’s season opener in Week 1 when the Cardinals play the New Orleans Saints on September 13.

The injury is definitely a setback for the Cardinals offense which will have to rely more heavily on third-year wideout John Brown and veteran staple Larry Fitzgerald. Floyd finished the 2014 season with 47 catches, 841 yards and six touchdowns, which was a down year after the 1,045 yards he posted in 2013.
Floyd’s injury comes on the heels of a comment that head coach Bruce Arians made indicating the receiver needs to be more consistent.
For now, Floyd needs to heal before he can fulfill his coach’s wishes.
