Report: Cardinals LT Jared Veldheer needs surgery on torn triceps

Arizona Cardinals left tackle Jared Veldheer will likely be out a while, if not the rest of the season, given the news that he needs surgery to repair a partially torn triceps.

This is terrible news for Veldheer and the Cardinals.

It’s already been a rough season for quarterback Carson Palmer, who has missed a game with a concussion and endured 24 sacks, third-most in the NFL.

It remains to be seen how the Cardinals will handle the loss of Veldheer, who hasn’t missed a game since landing in Arizona in 2014. An 88-game starter dating back to his days with the Oakland Raiders, he’ll be especially missed in pass protection as Palmer’s blind-side protector.

John Ulrick could potentially slide into that spot, or right tackle D.J. Humphries could potentially move to the left side while John Wetzel takes his spot on the right side.

Whatever happens, the offensive line is under some serious pressure to improve after allowing an astonishing eight sacks during the team’s Week 8 loss to the Carolina Panthers.
