The Chicago Bears lost receiver Cameron Meredith on Sunday after he injured his left knee against the Tennessee Titans. He had an air cast immediately put on his left leg by trainers on the field and had to be carted off.
At halftime, Pam Oliver of FOX Sports reported from the sideline that the team fears Meredith suffered a torn ACL, which would mean he’s out for the season.
As noted by Ian Rapoport of NFL Media, that might not be the full extent of the brutal injury, either (watch here).
If Meredith is lost for the season, it will be very difficult for the Bears to replace his production. He came on strong last season in a breakout campaign, catching 66 passes for 888 yards and four touchdowns. Chicago was looking for even more growth from the former undrafted free agent out of Illinois State this year.
At this time, it’s looking like we won’t see Meredith on the field until next year. The injury appeared to be quite severe. We wish him nothing but the best as he recovers in the coming months.
