Just four years into his coaching tenure with the University of California, Sonny Dykes has reportedly been relieved of his duties in what has to be considered a surprising move.

Dykes led CAL to just one bowl game in his four seasons with the team. Though, he did bring the program back to national relevance by helping Jared Goff mature into a quarterback that would eventually be drafted No. 1 overall last year. This season saw CAL finish with a 5-7 record.
While the Bears did have their fair share of success on offense during Dykes four-year tenure, their defense consistently ranked as one of the worst in the nation. That likely had to do with his no-huddle, speed-up scheme on offense.
Naturally, the first individual that will be rumored about to replace Dykes in Berkeley is former San Francisco 49ers head coach Chip Kelly, who was recently fired by the team after one season.
Kelly’s claim to fame stems from his historical run as the Oregon head coach from 2009-12, when he went a combined 46-7 with the Ducks.
This is most definitely something to keep an eye on.
