Report: Buffalo Bills Offering Charles Clay a $38 Million Five-Year Deal

The Buffalo Bills have reportedly offered Miami Dolphins’ tight end Charles Clay a whopping five-year, $38 million contract that would pay him $24.5 million over his first two years. The deal also comes with $20 million guaranteed.

That’s a ton of money. The Miami Dolphins have five days to match the offer if they wish to keep Clay with the team.

In Clay’s past four seasons with the Dolphins, he has totaled 1,809 receiving yards and has scored 14 touchdowns. With the Dolphins just signing tight end Jordan Cameron to a two-year, $15 million deal, the Bills’ offer to Clay might be too much for the Dolphins to match.

Clay only played one full 16-game season in his four years with the Dolphins. Regardless of what happens, Clay will become the fourth highest-paid tight end in the NFL.

The Bills are in dire need of a tight end after Scott Chandler headed to the New England Patriots and Lee Smith signed on with the Oakland Raiders.
