The Bryce Harper saga appears to finally be coming to an end with the Philadelphia Phillies winning the sweepstakes.
Bob Nightengale of USA Today Sports reported Sunday evening that while Harper and the Phillies don’t yet have a deal, “he will ultimately receive more than the 10-year, $300 million contract he turned down” from the Washington Nationals in September.
The Phillies have been mentioned by multiple reporters as the most team that had made the strongest play for Harper in recent weeks, despite plenty of other teams jumping into the mix.
It’s been a huge offseason for Philadephia, which recently extended pitcher Aaron Nola and made a huge trade with Miami to acquire catcher J.T. Realmuto.
