Report: Browns won’t trade No. 1 pick, open to trading No. 4 pick

The Cleveland Browns still haven’t tipped their hand about what they’re doing atop the draft, but they reportedly will not trade out of the No. 1 pick.

Tom Pelissero and Ian Rapoport of NFL Network reported Wednesday that the Browns plan to stay put at No. 1, but that “they’ve had a lot of conversations about the No. 4 pick.” Pelissero noted the Browns could be setting up to get their franchise quarterback at No. 1 and then trade the No. 4 pick away so another team can land a quarterback of their own.

Commenting on this, Rapoport added that “One decision-maker called this the ‘pivotal point in the draft.'”

This really isn’t all that surprising, especially in light of information that emerged Tuesday suggesting four quarterbacks could go in the first five picks on Thursday night.

As for what Cleveland will do with that top pick, it’s a total mystery at this point. The Browns have not tipped their hand in any significant way, and there are rumors that the top pick could be either Sam Darnold, Josh Allen or Baker Mayfield, who’s really picked up steam as the guy they like as of this past week.

Based on how things look now, we shouldn’t be surprised to see multiple big trades going down in the top 10 when the draft kicks off Thursday night in Arlington. It should be tons of fun, so get your popcorn ready and buckle up your seat belts.
