As the Cleveland Browns fight for their playoff hopes in a season full of drama and unexpected disaster, head coach Freddie Kitchens’ future with the team came into doubt. Fortunately for Kitchens, it appears he’s likely to return for the 2020 season.
According to NFL Networks Ian Rapoport, Cleveland’s management is firmly standing with Kitchens and is hopeful he can achieve the success to remain head coach for years to come.
As long as the Browns’ season doesn’t end in a horrific collapse, Kitchens is reportedly expected to remain the head coach through the offseason and will be on the sideline in 2020.
Of course, there have been plenty of issues around the team this season and under Kitchens’ watch. From the brawl with the Pittsburgh Steelers to Kitchens wearing a controversial t-shirt just days later and, of course, everything surrounding Odell Beckham Jr.
Cleveland faces the Arizona Cardinals in Week 15 before ending the season with a two-game slate against the Baltimore Ravens and Cincinnati Bengals. It appears, for now, that Kitchens will be back next season as long as his team avoids another embarrassing moment.
