Report: Browns making calls on potential HC candidates

Fire Freddie Kitchens

As another underwhelming season comes to an end for the Cleveland Browns, the chances of head coach Freddie Kitchens returning seem to be diminishing, with the organization reportedly now looking into head-coaching candidates.

According to CBS Sports’ Jason La Canfora, the Browns have begun doing due diligence on the head-coaching market and are making calls on potential candidates that could replace Kitchens as coach.

Cleveland came into the season with playoff aspirations and was even viewed as a dark horse contender to win the AFC. Instead, the Browns need a win on Sunday just to finish the 2019 season with seven wins.

There have also been issues off the field for Cleveland. Star receiver Odell Beckham Jr. will finish off one of the worst seasons in his career on Sunday and he recently erupted on Kitchens during a game. He’s not the only star player to blow up on Kitchens during a game, either.

Between the heated altercations with players, Baker Mayfield’s struggles and the team’s disappointing season, the organization and fans clearly aren’t happy with Kitchens.

Given the high-end coaching candidates that are available, which the organization is aware of, it wouldn’t be a surprise if Kitchens is fired after the season.
