Report: Broncos, Raiders both ‘very high’ on surprise WR prospect

The Denver Broncos and Las Vegas Raiders are both desperate to upgrade their receiving corps, and both reportedly are eyeing the same surprise prospect.

According to Tony Pauline of Pro Football Network, the Raiders and Broncos are both enamored with Denzel Mims out of Baylor, who “could be selected much earlier than most expect.”

“So, where could Mims end up? I’m told both the Oakland Raiders and Denver Broncos are very high on Mims. The Raiders are expected to take receivers early and often in the draft’s opening rounds. And while the consensus has Denver taking Ruggs if he’s available, I’m told the team is just as high on Mims.”

A player who’s been rising since the Senior Bowl, Mims had a phenomenal combine as well, posting jaw-dropping numbers in the 40 (4.38 seconds), 3 cone drill (6.66 seconds), broad jump (131 inches) and vertical (38.5 inches). Put those numbers on his 6-foot-3, 207-pound frame and you’re looking at an explosive package.

We recently mocked Mims at bit lower in the first round than what Pauline is discussing, but it seems he’s gaining steam. At the least, there is doubt he’s getting a ton of buzz heading into the draft next week.
