Report: Braves sign All-Star catcher Brian McCann

Fresh off losing All-Star catcher Kurt Suzuki to the division-rival Washington Nationals in free agency, the Atlanta Braves have brought back a player from their past.

According to multiple media reports, Atlanta has signed seven-time All-Star backstop Brian McCann.

McCann, 34, is a native of Georgia and began his career as a member of the Braves. From 2005-13, he earned all seven of his All-Star appearances with the team and hit 20-plus homers in seven of his eight full seasons in Atlanta.

This decision comes after McCann was offered more lucrative contracts elsewhere.

McCann played for the Houston Astros last season, hitting a career low .212 with just seven homers and 23 RBI in 63 games.

The hope here is that the friendly confines in Atlanta will help him resurrect his career.
